Harmony and Happiness

"Harmony and Happiness"
Best Fauna PSVA Annual Exhibition
Ming Mackay Winner (PSVA) 2017

During a recent trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico I visited the Botanical Gardens.  For the first time in my life I had a opportunity to see koi fish that were in a pond in the Japanese Garden.  They were amazing, feeding frantically right on the surface of the water.  I was standing above them and I had the best view of them during their feeding frenzy, which lasted quite a long time.   I have composed this painting from many of the photos I took on that day.  I wanted this painting to be bright and full of energy and movement.  The viewer should move around the composition and return to the focal point where the water breaks.

  1. I can confirm that this is beautiful in real life. I love this one and it's slightly unusual subject matter.
